Swim Meet Events for Tonight vs. McGees (at Hampton Ridge Pool)

Hi Families,

The heat sheet for tonight's home meet vs. McGee’s is attached. Be sure to mark your swimmer's arm or thigh with their Events/Heats/Lanes and write their name on their backs with a sharpie before warm-ups. Please arrive at the Hampton Ridge pool at 4:45pm for check-in. As the home team, the Otters will warm-up first, from 5:00-5:25pm. The meet will start promptly at 6:00pm, and we will begin with a moment of silence in honor of Jack Roney. We will hold a meeting for Timers and Stroke & Turn judges at 5:45pm. We still need 1 Clerk of Course and at least 3 more timers, please let us know if you can take a shift! You can login to volunteer for open jobs here.

⛱️The Otters will have the side of the pool closest to the entrance gates. McGee’s will have the other side closest to the parking lot, so please leave those seats against the back fence open for them to use.

🍿Concessions Donations: If you haven’t dropped off your assigned concession items yet, please bring them with you tonight and deliver them to the concessions stand when you arrive. The team will be selling drinks, snacks and pizza tonight. Cash and Venmo are accepted.

👕Team Attire: Swimmers should arrive in their team swimsuits, Hampton Ridge team t-shirts, and swim caps.

🏊Medley Stroke Order

  • Medley Relay: 1. Backstroke → 2. Breaststroke → 3. Butterfly → 4. Freestyle
  • Individual Medley (100 IM): Butterfly → Backstroke → Breaststroke → Freestyle

⚠️Important Reminders for Swim Meets!

  • Concession Stand/Pavilion Area: Please urge your children to stay out of the pavilion when you first arrive at the pool on meet nights. Having extra people in that space while our volunteers are setting up adds a lot of chaos to a very busy job. We appreciate your help in keeping that area clear! Also, please try to mark your own swimmer’s arm as volunteers are rushing around trying to get set up to run the meet. We send out instructions each week with the heat sheets.
  • Tennis Courts & Deck Safety: Children must stay off the tennis courts entirely, and there is no playing ball on the pool deck. We need to keep these areas safe and minimize distractions.
  • Event Readiness: All swimmers must remain on the pool deck by the staging area/kid pushers. This ensures they can be located immediately for their next event so volunteers aren't searching the property for them and so the children don’t miss out on their event.
  • Leaving After Events: If swimmers have finished all of their events, they are welcome to stay and cheer on their teammates, or they are free to leave. However, they cannot stay and play. (Volunteers must stay until their shift is completed, usually until the conclusion of the meet.)
  • Pool Closure During Meets: This is a friendly reminder that the Hampton Ridge pool is closed for recreational use during swim meets, and nobody is allowed in the water except the swimmers during their events. Please remind your children that they cannot play in the shallow end of the pool on swim meet evenings as it is a distraction to the swimmers and officials.

See you at the pool. Go Otters! 🦦
